5 Home Improvement Projects to Do Before the 4th of July

Grilling on the patio, swimming in the pool, playing frisbee in the backyard, the 4th of July is time to be outdoors with your friends and family. But if you’re planning on having company over, you should make sure that your home is ready for all of the 4th of July activities. So here are some home improvement projects you should tackle before the big day arrives:

Clean and repair your deck5 Home Improvement Projects To Do Before The 4Th Of July

The 4th of July is meant to be spent outside, and chances are you’ll be spending most of that time on your deck. So make sure your deck is in tip-top shape before people come over. Check for any loose railings, shifting boards, and splinters, then give it a good wash with a power washer to get rid of any dirt and grime that built up over the colder months.

Practice some lawn care

When you’re not out on your deck, you’re going to be out on your lawn. To prepare for the extra traffic, mow it regularly, prune shrubs or damaged branches, and remove any weeds you find. And don’t forget to add a new layer of mulch to your landscaping.

Clean your pool

If you have a pool, be sure to give it a proper cleaning before everyone arrives. You’ll also want to check the chlorine levels as well as your other pool equipment to see if it’s working properly.

Clean and repair your garage

If the weather turns sour, or if people want a respite from the sun, a garage is a great place to hang out while still enjoying the outdoors. Just make sure it’s well cleaned and repaired beforehand. Clean the floor, remove any junk, and keep an eye out for any holes, cracks, broken windows, and other problem areas that need to be addressed before July 4th.

Check your walkways and driveways for damage

Walk along your walkways and driveways to check for any cracks or raised surfaces. This isn’t just for aesthetics, deteriorating walkways and driveways can be a safety hazard, so it’s a good idea to get these repaired if you’re planning on having a lot of people over for the 4th of July.
