You Have Questions. We Have Answers.
Starting a home improvement project is a big decision, and it’s normal to have questions before the work begins. Over the years, homeowners across Buffalo and Western New York have asked us everything from how long a project takes to what to expect on day one. This page brings together the questions we hear most often, answered honestly and in plain language. Whether you’ve already signed on with us or you’re still deciding, we want you to feel informed and confident every step of the way.
Site Logistics
Where should your crew park, and where will materials be delivered?
Please let us know the best place for our crew’s vehicles to park to avoid disrupting you or your neighbors. We also need a designated spot in the driveway, garage, or yard for material drop-offs. Keeping these areas clear is essential for a smooth start.
Which entrance to the house should the crew use?
Please designate a preferred entrance for the crew to use throughout the project. Ensuring the path to this entrance is clear helps maintain efficiency and safety.
What needs to be done to protect my yard and landscaping?
If work is being done on the exterior of your home, please point out any shrubs, plants, or garden fixtures near the work zone. We can then ensure they are properly covered or advise if they need to be temporarily relocated to prevent damage.
What about daily and final cleanup?
Our team will sweep, vacuum, and remove loose debris from the work area at the end of each workday. While the site will be kept tidy, it will not be pristine until the project is complete. Upon completion, our crew will perform a thorough final cleaning of the entire remodeled area.
There is no one home during the day, can the crew use my alarm code to get in or do you need a key?
Either it depends on what you prefer, we do have the ability to set up a lock box that allows our crew daily access with key entry.
The materials are being delivered to my house, Is there anything I should know?
Once delivered, ensure materials are stored in a safe, dry place where they won’t be damaged, such as a garage or a designated room.
How should we handle questions or urgent issues during the project?
Before we begin, please inform us of any allergies, special scheduling needs, or sensitive household items. For any urgent issues that arise during the project, please contact our office directly at 716-875-8654.
Interior Work Preparation
What should I expect regarding dust and noise during the project?
Construction, especially any demolition, is inherently dusty and noisy. We use plastic containment barriers and perform daily cleanups to minimize spread, but it’s impossible to eliminate it completely. You should expect fine dust to settle on surfaces and noise from power tools and hammers during work hours.
How can I help manage dust inside my home?
The best thing you can do is keep the interior doors to rooms outside the work area closed at all times. This creates an extra barrier that significantly helps contain dust.
What do I need to do with furniture, pictures, and decorations in the work area?
Our crew needs a clear and unobstructed path from the entry point of your home to the work zone. Please ensure these aisles are wide enough for workers to safely carry tools and materials without navigating around furniture or other household items.
What happens with my children and pets during the project?
For their safety, it is essential to have a plan to keep children and pets away from the work area, tools, and materials at all times. Construction zones can be hazardous, and securing this area is a top priority.
Will I lose access to parts of my house?
It is possible that access to certain rooms or utilities (like water or electricity) may be temporarily limited. We will always communicate with you in advance about any planned shutdowns or significant disruptions to your daily routine.
What about my carpet/flooring?
We will use protective floor coverings and runners. Are there any particularly sensitive surfaces you would like to point out to us?
